But the model\u2019s reputation has as much to do with sound as rarity. For instance, Joe Bonamassa, who can afford just about any amp he wants, uses a Silver Jubilee alongside a Dumble Overdrive Special. As an arena amp, you\u2019d be hard pressed to find a more capable piece of machinery. But what if you don\u2019t need a 4x12 cab or have roadies at the ready? Marshall\u2019s new Mini Jubilee is an excellent possible solution. The Marshall 2525C Mini Jubilee is a 20W rendition of the Silver Jubilee and is available as a compact 1x12 combo (reviewed here) or head (the 2525H). It\u2019s powered by three ECC83 preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes, and\u2014decked out in signature silver and grey vinyl and chrome\u2014it exudes all the coolness of its big brother. While the Mini Jubilee is not the cheapest 20-watt combo out there, the price is not out of line within its category\u2014on the high side, perhaps, for a production amp, but on the low-mid side for a boutique offering. Like most things in life though, you get what you pay for, and the Mini Jubilee, crafted at the Marshall factory in England, is very well built indeed. For one thing, it\u2019s dead quiet. I didn\u2019t encounter any humming, tube rattles, or extraneous noises throughout my test period. The pots, meanwhile, have a smooth, gradual taper that allows for balanced and organic transitions across all volume ranges. Always used Fender tube amps, this is my first Marshall. Was concerned it might be too loud for home but can get great crunch at reasonable volumes on the 5 watt setting. Haven&#8217;t cranked it on full power yet but looking forward to doing so next time I get to a rehearsal room!! <\/p>\n<p>Only slight quibble is the knobs are quite plasticky but not a big issue for me as won&#8217;t be moving the amp from home too often. <\/p>\n<p>Features are pretty limited but it is what it is, a quality amp with great rock tones. Clean sound is fine but not really what you&#8217;re buying a Marshall for anyway. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"inner text-original js-text-original\" lang=\"en\" data-orig-lang=\"en\"> I bought it for my personal home studio. Maybe it&#8217;s just my particular taste but the OD\/distorsion did not sound good at all especially at high gains. The tone was buzzy and airy with too much high freq. I tried different guitars (Gibson Black beauty, Schecter Diamond series, 1981 japan Squier) and I couldn&#8217;t find a pleasant distorted tone. roll. On the one hand, they deliver crisp cleans at a moderate volume, which is often hard to find. On the other hand, turning up the volume releases a soft, creamy distortion &#8211; lying across the fine line between clean and crunch &#8211; that is simply unrivalled.<\/p>\n<p>The Reissue Blues Deluxe offers two channels, one of which is predestined for the clean department, while the other can be made to sing at a civil volume by adjusting the master volume. Practically all good sounds between Bassman and Deluxe can be uced. With the Eminence 12&#8243; speaker, the amp has enough power to fill small clubs with plenty of sound.
