I have a 65 reissue Princeton and it sounds quite different. The reverb is a bit more mellow and the tremolo is more intense. The tremolo is very good. <\/p>\n<p>The problem is that the amp rattles and vibrates as soon as it is turned above 2 which is not loud at all. It appeared to be coming from the front baffle (which i&#8217;ve heard can often happen with Princeton&#8217;s). I think the aluminium drip edge grill trim makes the rattle worse. Turning up the bass also made the rattle\/vibration worse. <\/p>\n<p>The reverb was also loose when i received it and i had to secure it properly. This caused the reverb to start feeding back even when it was at a low level. <\/p>\n<p>A good sounding amp but the build quality is not acceptable for the price. There needs to be better quality control with these amps. <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"inner text-original js-text-original\" lang=\"en\" data-orig-lang=\"en\"> Fender Custom ?68 Princeton Reverb is a great amp. <br \/>It have classic sparkly Fender tone. <br \/>This amp have very nice sounding reverb and also very nice deep sounding vibrato, again classic Fender tone. <br \/>Amp is very loud, but capable for very nice fender clean tone on low volumes. It is very sensitive to guitar volume potentiometers and to different types of pick or finger attack. My amp break on volume of 5 with Les Paul with humbuckers, and maybe on 5.5 when played on telecaster single pickups. On this volumes amp is very loud. (Maybe not loud enough for some giging situations with heavy handed drummers and so) <br \/>It is very nice and musical type of break. Very natural! <br \/>Good with pedals, but Princeton&#8217;s natural clean tone is <br \/>so good and I didnt try much with pedals <br \/>(litle bit with overdrive, ED-1 the compressor &#8211; nice results) <br \/>Amp is not heavy, lighter then ex. Blues Junior, so is very transportable. Surprisingly, though hordes of players have long been willing to pay a lot for 50-year-old handwired DRs (unmodified blackfaces in good condition go for upwards of &#36;2,500, while silverfaces go for &#36;1,300 and up), Fender itself hadn\u2019t offered a handwired Deluxe Reverb for more than 35 years\u2014until this past summer\u2019s unveiling of the \u201964 Custom Deluxe Reverb. The \u201964 CDR boasts many of the qualities that make vintage DRs so desirable, not least of which are a completely handwired circuit with Mylar-and-tinfoil Astron tone capacitors (just like the originals), and a solid pine cabinet (verses the Reissue series\u2019 birch plywood housings). Tweaks to the original recipe range from the cool but sonically inconsequential (heavier-than-normal vinyl covering, reverb-tank cabling with woven metal sheathing) to those that greatly expand the platform\u2019s utility. Foremost among the latter \u201cmods\u201d is the fact that both channels can access the tube-driven spring reverb and tremolo circuits. (Interestingly, the latter is output-tube-bias as opposed to the photoresistor type found on most Fenders.) Equally impactful, while the bright channel (previously called \u201cvibrato\u201d) features an authentic blackface-voiced preamp, the normal channel has had the capacitors responsible for yielding brighter tones removed\u2014a popular aftermarket mod for those looking for more rounded tones from instruments with pointed treble attack. The \u201965 Deluxe Reverb reissue\u2014which has now been around longer than both the original blackface and silverface eras combined\u2014has been a huge hit because it\u2019s reliable, sounds great, and is moderately priced. But its popularity, as well as the scarcity of vintage units, will no doubt skew the perceptions of players who haven\u2019t played a healthy vintage specimen.
