Either due to the lack of a midrange control knob, too much of a tone difference between the clean and the OD channel, it being way too bright sounding or the worse which is not having enough clean headroom. For me the most important thing on an amp is a warm but crystal clear clean tone with lots of headroom. The second most important is that it take pedals great.The amp also has to be able to be played both at bedroom and club gig volumes. <\/p>\n<p>I play with the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded humbucker set on my Ibanez prestige ar2619 and was pleasantly surprised with the tone I was able to dial in, exactly what I was looking for, &quot;Warm and crystal clear&quot;. Furthermore, all my pedals sound great on this amp which is no surprise when you can achieve such a full bodied and articulate tone. <\/p>\n<p>For those who are curious about what pedals I use: Wah-Wah, OD, Fuzz, Octaver, Phaser, Tremolo, Envelope Follower, Analog Delay, and Digital Reverb. <\/p>\n<p>Now to the pros: a warm and crystal clear clean tone, plenty of clean headroom, takes pedals great, really nice looking, nice sounding reverb p, sturdy and nice feeling foot pedal and last but not least, an incredible value for what it offers. <\/p>\n<p>Now the cons: OD channel sounds best with the gain around 7 so its not as versatile as a pedal, I would have liked a bit more bass tone to work with, but it has enough, the reverb doesn&#8217;t sound as good at high settings, the effects loop hisses slightly but then again, since I don&#8217;t use the OD channel I put my pedalboard in the front of the amp and there it is dead silent. <\/p>\n<p>So to sum this all up, I feel that unless you are looking for the specific sound that one of the well known brands offer and are willing to pay dearly for it, this amp should satisfy your needs and offer you good basis for your pedals. <\/p>\n<p>A great value and equally great service from the people at Thomann! <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"inner text-original js-text-original\" lang=\"en\" data-orig-lang=\"en\"> After considering other tube amps combos for home hobby playing, I decided for this one. It has definetly not the sound od Princenton Reverb from Fender, but for 320 Eur, it is a good value. <br \/>With the external overdrive box or through the own overdrive chanel it gives the real rock experience and sound. <br \/>Playing the clear tones without any effects as in jazz music or similar, I would say, the sound is a bit doubtful. Surprisingly, though hordes of players have long been willing to pay a lot for 50-year-old handwired DRs (unmodified blackfaces in good condition go for upwards of &#36;2,500, while silverfaces go for &#36;1,300 and up), Fender itself hadn\u2019t offered a handwired Deluxe Reverb for more than 35 years\u2014until this past summer\u2019s unveiling of the \u201964 Custom Deluxe Reverb. The \u201964 CDR boasts many of the qualities that make vintage DRs so desirable, not least of which are a completely handwired circuit with Mylar-and-tinfoil Astron tone capacitors (just like the originals), and a solid pine cabinet (verses the Reissue series\u2019 birch plywood housings). Tweaks to the original recipe range from the cool but sonically inconsequential (heavier-than-normal vinyl covering, reverb-tank cabling with woven metal sheathing) to those that greatly expand the platform\u2019s utility. Foremost among the latter \u201cmods\u201d is the fact that both channels can access the tube-driven spring reverb and tremolo circuits. (Interestingly, the latter is output-tube-bias as opposed to the photoresistor type found on most Fenders.) Equally impactful, while the bright channel (previously called \u201cvibrato\u201d) features an authentic blackface-voiced preamp, the normal channel has had the capacitors responsible for yielding brighter tones removed\u2014a popular aftermarket mod for those looking for more rounded tones from instruments with pointed treble attack. The \u201965 Deluxe Reverb reissue\u2014which has now been around longer than both the original blackface and silverface eras combined\u2014has been a huge hit because it\u2019s reliable, sounds great, and is moderately priced. That AC10 was one of Vox\u2019s very first amps\u2014a more affordable, stripped down little brother to the AC15 that was then revolutionizing the English amplifier landscape. In many respects, this new two-EL84 AC10 has more in common with the contemporary AC15. In both sonic and visual terms it may be one of the most cost-effective means to get the most familiar \u201960s Vox vibe that\u2019s come down the chute in a while. I get excited when I see a little Vox tube amp as a studio option. I don\u2019t own one, but when I see an AC4 or AC15 around, I start to think about possible contributions in terms of spirit, brightness, and colorful immediacy. The AC10 lends that same outward reassurance. From the black textured vinyl to the piping and diamond grill cloth, it\u2019s classically Vox and very well put together. At less than 21 inches wide and about 16 inches tall, it\u2019s compact, and at just over 12 pounds it\u2019s easy to tote around. The chassis and speaker are obscured from view by a closed-back cab. That\u2019s never fun for inspection of the amp\u2019s inner works, but it almost certainly adds a little extra bass thump to an amp that, as we\u2019ll see, punches outside its weight class with ease. The control set is streamlined: a bass\/treble EQ section, a reverb control, and gain and volume controls at opposite ends of the five-knob array. Unfortunately, the reverb is a digital unit rather than the spring reverb you see on the AC15 or AC30 Customs. It\u2019s not a bad reverb, and is often key to getting the most classically Vox-y and sparkling tones. But it\u2019s hard not to wonder if a more streamlined circuit would have sounded just a touch better and been less expensive.
