I hope you found it helpful. While I believe we covered a lot of the questions you may have in this video, I realize that there might still be some more details that you want to find out about the Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp. Buying info and more details around the Marshall MS2: https://amzn.to/2Lt8LzS As mentioned in the video, I strongly encourage you to check out my comprehensive article review about this device which you can find on my website along with more details around features, FAQs, comparisons to other mini amps, pros and cons as well as purchasing information. http://guitaringenuity.com/the-marshall-ms2-micro-amp-review-functionality-features-and-sound/ If you are subscriber to my channel, you may probably know that I in the past did a few reviews on the popular Vox amplug mini guitar amps. People who watched those review asked me, if I could take the Marshall MS2 for a test ride and share my findings. Well, my wife must have used her sixth sense – she put this guitar accessory under the Christmas tree for me. Therefore, I was now able to test the MS2 amp for a little while and share now my findings and thoughts with you. To recap the main points I made in the video: The MS-2 by Marshall comes in different versions. First of all, there is a half-stack and a full-stack option. On top of that, you can get the device in black (standard), red (MS-2R) and chrome (MS-2C). The design is simple, just the way a like it. Instead of trying to cramp-in too many buttons and features, the Marshall did well by keeping the layout straight forward. Overall the casing is very solid and the thing looks really neat, in my opinion. There are three dials in the front of the Marshall MS2 mini guitar amp: Volume, Tone and Off/On/OD. Volume and Tone are self-explanatory. As for the last dial, it serves a dual purpose as the on/off switch as well as switching into overdrive mode. In the regular channel, the sound is decent, but it lacks volume. You need to bring up the volume to “5” or higher, but the problem is, the more volume you add the crunchier the sound gets. In the overdrive channel, the Marshall MS-2 mini amplifier kills! The tone is awesome. Playing around with the Tone dial gives you a broad spectrum of sound, anything from ultra gainy to doomy. Instead of using the integrated speaker, you can connect a headphone set. Also, the device can be powered either via a 9V DC Adapter which you would need to purchase separately, of a 9V block battery, which comes with the product. The battery life is very good, but you need to ensure that you switch off the MS-2 after you’re done playing! The Marshall MS-2 is a lightweight at 12 ounces. Oh, yes, you can absolutely use your pedals in connection with the MS-2. It works very well, I tried it myself. Also, instead of a regular guitar, you can connect a bass guitar. Alright, let’s wrap this up: In my personal opinion, the Marshall MS-2 Micro Guitar Amp is a great product at a very reasonable price. I love the fact that it has an integrated speaker, so you don’t need a headset, yet you can use one, whenever you want. The sound quality is better than I expected. Yes, I wish the clean channel could produce more volume, but that’s okay since I’m playing in overdrive most of the time anyway. The design is slick and the overall quality to the Marshall MS 2 is great. So, what do you think? Any more questions for me? Fire away and leave them in the comment box below. Don’t forget to check out my article with more details on the Marshall MS-2 micro amp. It also handles footpedals with ease for modulation and reverb effects. But…the "OD" channel (overdrive) is utterly terrible.
It’s a great tiny, battery-powered amp for sitting around a campfire and singing songs together, but it’s not a good practice amp and certainly not good at creating anything needing distortion.
The price is cheap, so you can get one just to say,"I have a Marshall" and that’s about it.

Comment:

It’s very small and can be used with a standard 9V powercell. After a while the chassis started to make noises. I was able to solve the issue by sticking some dampening stuff in it.

The sound is, as you would expect, pretty bad, but it sure is enough to rock outside for a bit or if you’re somewhere where you can’t take your actual amp with you.

It’s pretty loud as well. The tones I was searching for were the angry-metal tone and some bright, "glass" clean tones. The bunch of effects and presets that the manufacturer assures is really decent, although you will not need the whole 100 of them. I loved the versatility of this amp, you can play blues, jass, get some light-rock tones and there are a lot of switches for you to choose from. In comparison to the MG series amp that I listened to at my friend, the CODE is obviously better at tones and the sound is cleaner and clearer.
I dealed with some problems in using the USB-recordin feature, because, first of all, the sound that is recording is different from that you are hearing when playing, and I also managed to accidentaly break the port.
Also, at the begining you may find it a challenge to understand what tones give you the amps and the cabinets and the power-amps and the whole lot of switches it has, but in an hour of messing up with them – you’ll find what you need.
The bluetooth feature is usable and really useful, I used it multiple times to just listen to music, but it also allows you to play along a track or cover some songs while they’re playing straightly from the amp. Also the Marshall Gateway app is very good as a remote-control for the amp, and with it you can hold 200 presets – a hundred on your phone and a hundred on the amp (but you will not need so much of them).
As a conclusion, I admit that this is THE BEST amp in this price category and may be the single one you would need for practise and is a decent one to play somewhere live, the sound is really good. Even if I didn’t gave it at every point 5 stars, overall it truly deserves it.

Comment:

I’ve been using Marshall Code 25 for a month. I’ve bought it for home use and I’m going to tell you what it is about.

Pros:
1. Overall the sound is good for a relatively low price. Since it is 25W amp, you can make it sound so loud that it will probably be possible to preform in front of a small audience of people. However, if you want a good amp for home use(as I wanted), you shouldn’t be scared of the wattage. It is easy to set the volume so that it won’t be heard from another room, even with high gain.

2. The divesity of sound you are able to get is also amazing – delay, reverb, distortion, overdrive, auto wah and so on, you can change every little detail about every setting.

3. The easiness to use. The interface and the buttons are really self-explanatory and I had no problems setting the sound I wanted. If it isn’t convincing you, there’s a good free app that you can connent via bluetooth to your amp and tweak every single setting that you need. The app is also extremely easy to use.

Cons:
1. It is sometimes hard to find a right volume setting spot to play really quietly.

2. The back panel of the amp was really hard to remove. I had to use a knife which damaged the corner a little bit.

Summary:
I didn’t notice any major cons about this amp. But it is the best choice for all intermediate guitarists trying to find their sound and have fun. Very loud, bassy and with extreme possibilities, this amp can drop jaws.
The biggest letdown was the sound quality. Since it is a digital amp, do not expect the sound a tube amp would make. It is more "digital". But it can still be loud and clear.
The extreme advantage of this amp is clearly the possibility of making different sounds. You get the free Marshall amp and you can manually create own sounds or replicate sounds of others (very useful when covering songs).
In conclusion, it was the best buy for me. I mean, you would not get this as a professional guitarist, but come on. You would not look here if you were a professional. For all parents wanting to buy something for their kids to start or for all broke fellas like me, this is the answer! I believe Marshall have released another winner. Something that most will be able to afford and something that does proud their formidable legacy. The Origin Series takes the fundamental tones from the Marshall classics and offers them up in lighter and (now) more affordable combo and head packages. The Origin 20C is way impressive. Its 14kg package offers everything I love about classic Marshall: headroom, grind and THAT tone when everything is cranked and singing. It's a winner. There are features on the Origin series like S/R FX loop, DI Out and footswitchable Normal/Boost that you wouldn't have found on the old stuff but I'm sure will be welcome now. I haven't tried anything else from the series, but I'm keen to. Three thumbs up. In order to overdrive it without pedals, you need it to be pretty loud, too loud for home use, meaning that to have an overdriven tone at home you have to use either an attenuator or an overdrive/distortion pedal or both.

Gain boost adds too much bottom end, not really usable with volume knob rolled off on the guitar, sound is too dark that way, but with volume on guitar all the way up, it allows to have more gain and doesn’t sound bad.

Also, there’s tube (or maybe cabinet?) rattle on certain frequencies at mid-to-high volume.

But rattle aside, this is a great amp with beautiful tones.

Pros:
– Beautiful clean and overdriven tones;
– In addition to the usual EQ controls, there’s Tilt control, which allows you to blend bright and normal voicing;
– Fx loop;
– Power attenuation (scaling) option;
– Nothing unnecessary or complicated, which makes the amp great for being pedal platform.

Cons:
– Tube (or cabinet?) rattle on louder volumes;
– Doesn’t sound as nice in 0.5w mode as in 3w or 20w;
– Gain boost adds too much bottom end;
– No built-in reverb.

Comment:

I ordered this amp initially because I love the looks. Might sound shallow on my side but I need to be attracted visually to my gear to use it.

At first I was underwhelmed by the volume. I loved the sound but was disappointed because really needed to crank it in order to play with a full band but a few days later when playing at home I realized I have found the perfect amp both for home and gigs/rehearsals. Knock it down to low power mode and master on 3 and you can play this in an apartment – put it in high power and go to 8-9-10 on the master and you got yourself a gigging amp.

The speaker is also good but it needs a few hours to burn in. In really makes a difference. It really doesn’t matter that it’s only a 10 inch.

I love that the amp is light. I have back problems and this is a blessing.

Feature set is perfect for me. Too much controls on an amp and I have option-paralysis. This is the right amount.

Loves pedals, but I didn’t try too many on it. I’m a simple guy, I like overdrive, chorus, trem and delay.

All in all I love this amp. The overdrive is typical Hard Rock! It looks like the Blues Breaker in miniature, which is aesthetically very pleasing – a classic Marshall look. And the circuitry seems to be similar to the old Marshall classics; it has that great EL34 tone. It has an FX loop, and comes with a foot pedal with which you can engage the overdrive function (that heats up the preamp stage and gives about a 3dB boost) and the FX loop. Nice. I think it’s strange that Thomann mentions neither the FX loop or that it comes with the pedal; those were selling points for me, but I only found that info on other sites that reviewed the amp. As some have pointed out, access to the loop in/outputs, and the extension speaker output are kind of out of the way and not so easily accessible. No biggy, just a little inconvenient. And you’ll want to hook it up to a larger speaker, as the Celestion 8" isn’t really bad, but sounds a bit boxy and quacky to me. I like a single 12" or a pair of 10s. Anything with 16Ohms is fine. But the 8 is perfect for living room practice. If you’re micing the cab, be aware that the speaker is off-center – it’s to the left. It’s a 5W amp, but can be switched to half a watt. That’s brilliant! 5 watts is pretty loud – perfect for practicing and enough for club work if its miced. But the half-watt setting is great if you want it to break up without having the neighbors calling the cops.

The breakup when you push it is very natural. You can get a very nice clean tone, but when you dig in with the pick it will respond immediately, much like an amp with a tube rectifier would. And it has this weird so-called "tilt" knob. As far as I can tell, it’s similar to a presence control, like on the old Plexis, but seems to affect the upper mids more than the highs. It doesn’t really add "air" but a bit of sparkle around 3 to 4 KHz. Maybe the old presence controls affected the same frequencies, so forgive me if I’m off base here. I had a Plexi, but that was decades ago…

Anyway, for the price, a fraction of what a boutique low-watt tube amp would cost, it’s a very worthy amp with lots of tone. And, if I may, Thomann is offering it at about 150 Euros cheaper than some of the competition. So, for me, it was a no-brainer.

I’m very pleased, and surprised at the quality and tone for such a reasonably priced tube amp. No, actually the price is amazing for so much tone and quality.

Comment:

There are a lot of mixed reviews about the Origin series, and the 5C seems to get some of the worst reviews overall, but it’s actually a pretty cool amp once you know your way around it.

The biggest problem/complaint is that it’s very icy/trebly at low volumes, and that the higher ’tilt’ settings just makes this worse. Undeniably an issue, and definitely a feature that makes this a poor choice as a stand-alone amp for lower-volume playing.

The trick to the Origin 5C seems to be running the amp at full (or almost full) volume as standard – do this and the sound really thickens up. I’ve had the most success running the amp with the volume at full and controlling the overall level with a volume/overdrive/distortion between guitar and the amp. Do this and the ’tilt’ control become a useful feature rather than something you want to avoid touching.

Taking this into account it’s probably not an ideal first amp, but a nice addition to a collection and a good option if you’re a pedal user.

And you have the following options to buy the amplifier Marshall Origin 5C Combo.

<div style="text-align: center; I have a Marshall RF-1 Reflector Reverb pedal that does that.
The two way footswitch is a great for switching channels & works perfectly.
The amp is solidly built & looks fantastic.

Comment:

Very good product for the price. Very versatile.
Good clean sound for a marshall typa of amp and also very good overdrives.
The clean channel (green mode) as a bit lower volume then the others but you can compensate that with the 2 master volumes, so thats not a deal-breaker.
Also, if you use buffered by-pass pedals on the FX loop, when you turn it on you will notice a slith decrease on the volume aswell. For me, I keep the FX Loop always on and just turn on/off the pedals I want to use so that is not a problem.
If you like to use dirt pedals, this amps is also a great for that cuz it accepts pedals very well.
The key trick for this amp is very simple: the louder it gets, the better it sounds.
