I received a very well packaged guitar from Thomann. Admittedly, this was my first guitar purchase online so I was a little nervous but I’m quite satisfied with the sound. The strings they put on aren’t very suitable (either 11 or 12 gauge D’addario) so I’ll be swapping them out for some 13 gauge elixirs soon. That will really bring out the warmth and loudness of the mahogany top.

The guitar looks great. It will make a perfect gigging guitar and its sound through an amplifier is extremely good. I didn’t even notice that it had an XLR jack in addition to the standard guitar jack before I bought it. It was a very good surprise.

All in all, definitely worth this price tag. Would recommend.

A good guitar is wen we feel inspired playing it, and this is the case for me, in different styles.

1st impression it was the (good) look and finish. The open pore is really nice and exclusive. The overall finish is nice and the set up correct. Only need of intervention for eventual personal preferences. Nice touch from Ibanez the inclusion of a spare/extra bridge and pin.
The most import is the playing, witch is very comfortable, and the sound, witch is nice and balanced across strings.
For my ears, pleasant and deep bass , but not intrusive. Nice trebles, but not to much crispy.

I feel I should point out that, before I chose this guitar, I ordered a Takamine GD10CE-NS, which I then decided to return. The return was handled well and with 0 complications. You see when I got the Takamine, I was very disappointed. Now the guitar itself was beautiful, truly wonderful to look at. But you know that feeling when you hold a guitar and simply do not know what to play, because the sound does not resonate with you, and you feel very uninspired as a result? That’s the feeling I got from the Takamine. My friend did not like it either, and after a discussion, we simply could not pinpoint what is wrong with the sound, and came to an agreement that it simply "lacks soul". I changed the strings and the sound improved, however, it was still not dark enough, not right – a very bright sound that almost cut through you. Not my cup of tea.

Now this Ibanez… wow.

First of all, it looks absolutely stunning. The dark wood and the open pore finish is amazing. When I first picked this guitar up and played it, I did not want to stop. And instead of not knowing what to play, I discovered new ways of holding the frets, and played things I never did before. The sound to me is an old cabin, deep in the woods, and while the playing coming from inside it is mellow and slow, it is rich and full of vitality, heart and depth. A deep, rich, and not too bright tone. Perfect for what I wanted. The guitar has crazy sustain and the craftsmanship is simply superb. The Takamine was no worse in this respect, but the type of sound it projects did not resonate with me. I cannot believe this guitar is so cheap. And despite playing and trying out many guitars (none of which where all mahogany, however) I have not played any other guitar that sounds this pleasant to my ears. I already own a classic ibanez, and that one is amazing as well.
I would recommend Ibanez guitars and particularly this guitar to anyone!

This guitar was bought for a teenager who is a beginner, and it is going to be used at home for practice/playing/learning. It has replaced a very cheap classic guitar with nylon strings, and the difference is massive in terms of build quality, finish, and sound.

The guitar fills the room with warm tones, but also has lots of clarity. It was also perfect out of the box, with no flaws, and the tag said it had been inspected by Ibanez in Germany. It was almost in tune, right out of the box.

The setup is good enough. Slightly high, perhaps, but the fretwork is good.

Pros:
– It looks great, with the dark top, and open pore finish
– great value for money
– sounds loud, and clear, with a warm tone

Cons:
– for the price, nothing to complain about. Perhaps the setup could have been a little lower.

Overall, I would say this is a great guitar for a beginner on a budget. It’s big and can produce a lot of volume, looks good and plays nicely out of the box. Definitely worth the price.

This starter kit is a nice little acoustic bundle. I’ve had it about a year as my office guitar, and it keeps tune and has a rich tone for a cheap and cheerful acoustic. The only critique I can really give isn’t the guitar, but the tuner – which unfortunately is hit and miss when tuning the middle strings. All in all, well worth the money.

Comment:

the picks from the kit are of very low quality, the guitar itself has some manufacturing flaws. in general, a good instrument, but had to be finished by a guitar master. I advise you to buy something more expensive, and the case and picks separately

I’m not what you would call a professional musician
There are way more impressive guitars than this one
But for the amateur player this guitar is a must
The sound quality is excellent
The clarity is top notch
The pickup is powerful and clear enough (maybe too powerful if you are playing too near a stage speaker it can have feedback)
But it is a great guitar to play with or without the pickup
The built in tuner is perfect
Interesting feature is that the tuner mutes the pickup so you can always tune the guitar on stage live without ever needing to bring down the volume yourself or the sound engineer who might forget to bring back the volume when you have finished :p
Oh and finally it is a good looking guitar

Being the 4th guitar ive bought from thomann, i wasn’t surprised at receiving another beautiful guitar. As with most new acoustic guitars, i found that the action was a little high, but was easily lowered to my liking. The guitar arrived in perfect condition, not a scratch, dent or any other imperfection. It sounds and plays beautifully. I really like the feel of the neck.It is Smooth and not too wide, perfect for my smallish hands. It sounds just as good plugged in or played acoustically. It has all the features expected of an electro acoustic and it has a very handy built in tuner. Very happy with this guitar

Why I bought... The Ibanez Artwood acoustic guitar

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

Comment:

It’s usually a Friday night when I pick up a guitar. Audience is around 0 to 3 people who couldn’t care less and are preoccupied with other important Friday activities such as falling asleep at other peoples flats. So this review is from a guy who learned his first 10 chords about 15 years ago and never bothered to learn any new ones. If you can relate this review is for you.

Good points:

+Good sound, rich tone, also quite loud.
+Nice black finish.
+Built-in tuner.
+Good build quality.

Bad points (for me):

– It feels too fragile, like the body is made out of paper rather than wood. Very light. I prefer guitars with more solid feel to them. Knocks and little bumps are regular occurence at my place. Other guitars have survived the abuse for years, but I’m worried about this one.

Comment:

Exactly 4 years ago I was looking for a solid mahogany guitar (or something similar in sound). At that moment I saw the "sister" of this guitar – Ibanez AW54CE-OPN and fell in love with her.
A couple of months ago I saw this site and was pleasantly surprised that this model, with minor changes, is in black. Without further thought, I purchased it and received it after about 14 days (delivery from Germany to Russia).

The things to love about this guitar:
– great sound, with pleasant low frequencies
– reasonable price
– good quality guitar
– pleasant appearance
– convenient body cutout
– good tuner and pickups
– additional XLR connector

What you have to put up with:
– slightly shaking volume and frequency knobs
– poor location of the belt clip
– payment of customs duties (depends on the laws of your country)
