First of all the looks. Whenever anyone sees it they immediately comment on it’s 50’s styling and how the blue dial was perfect.
But, most importantly, the sound. Some of the amps are a little too rocky for me, I play Jazz/ blues but overall for a practice amp I have zero complaints. It’s really there to replace a Yamaha THR which was ok, a pain as it always suffer from a buzz caused by a short and I’m actually more of a fan of this Mooer and it’s sounds. There’s options for pretty much anything I want to play.
Our Bass player plugged in his Warwick and was impressed, it’s a versatile piece of kit. Not enough low end for him to gig with but he was happy enough. I guess that’s a good compliment.

Here is where Mooer Hornet comes in. Cool, stylish, has everything that kid and his mom expects from it. Thank you Mooer, one happy family fed 🙂
I have tried many small combos from "classic" brands for home use, and was disappointment with their sound, features and look.. This is the best choice for hobbyists on my opinion. Modeling amp is a modelling amp. Just don’t expect it to be a replacement of a real tube amp on staage, and you will be happy.
A lot of amps emulated, not just clean and overdrive. Effects enriches the sound, so for home playing you actually don’t need anything more.
Controls – a bit unclear for classic amp user, but you just should get just to it, and then you will understand why it is done that way.
Bluetooth is a must for modern home combos.

Now, the bad part.
The sound is somewhat fake, distant, not direct.
My Roland Microcube of ten years ago has less features but sounds much better.
Even for practice at home it’s better to chose something that helps to improve your touch and way of playing.
This doesn’t.
I’ve sent it back.
Thomann service spectacular as always.

Sounds BIG, like there’s a real amp in the room.
Feels VERY solid and well made (knobs, handle, everything)
Probably loud enough for any situation (small rehearsal without PA, any gig with PA as monitor, small bar gig without PA)
Super easy to understand and use, there is a reason they do not provide a printed manual (although I wish they did).
Bluetooth, drum machine and looper: great tools for practice (these were the main selling points for me)
Wireless 4 button footswitch included (!).
All features are accessible from the amp’s control panel, no need to connect your phone or computer.
The Bad.
Amp models sound a bit cold sometimes, it lacks the feel of a tube amp (obviously it isn’t one, but lacks the feel more so than other modelers I think)
Although the models are much more accurate than my previous practice amp (Vox VTX) there’s something missing in how they feel.
No amp cab options, they are fixed for each amp model.
Amp models are a curious selection, not everyone’s cup of tea. There are enough high gain models, probably enough clean ones too. However not much going on in between.
I think the only marshall modeled is the JCM 900.
The footswitch has 4 led’s, one on top of each switch. However you can have them either all light up at the same time, or off. It is weird that it doesn’t light up based on which switch you have pressed. You can only know which preset you are on by looking at the amp.
Effects
Decent reverbs, modulations.
Great tape delay.
Good sounding boost pedals (TS, blues driver)
I hope this helps someone looking for a modeling amp!
I intend to use it mostly for home/practice, and once in a while for rehearsal at a friend’s home studio.
Maybe also for a small bar gig where stage space is too limited to have amp + pedals.

Craftsmanship: almost ideal, no real worries.
Features: quite basic yet sufficient; overdrive is not for high-gain fans; bluetooth streaming is a useful addition.
Sound: very decnet, though streamed music is not exactly "hi-fi" as the speakers are likely to be mostly meant to reproduce guitar.
So, basically, there are no "cons". If you want a very affordable amp for your home to play at moderate levels not to upset your neighbours, this is it.
