Body and finish:
First of all this is very beautiful guitar. Well done sunburst finish, no cracks, scuffs, cavities, noticeable filler etc. Pearloid pickguard fits in just right.
Neck pocket is done extremely precise and all sides are very well fit. Neck fits in tight and there’s no gaps anywhere and absolutley no wobble.
Neck:
It’s a killer. Exceptional craft quality. Frets are all even, nicely rounded and well polished. Satin neck finish and laquer fretboard all together feels very smooth and high end. This neck alone make you feel like guitar is twice the price. You gonna love it.
Hardware:
Tuners perform very good, tuning stability is not an issue at all.
Bridge overall seem to be a high quality piece but with minor issue.
What I’m concerned by is tremolo bar (arm, handle). I absolutely hate if tremolo bar wobbles in slot even a little bit. With classic strat tremolo with threaded bar you can avoid it by using a drop of thread-locker. This one is my first tremolo with inserting bar and it wobbles just a little but just enough to annoy me. What I come up with is applying layer of self-adhesive foil tape over a bar part which goes into slot. It helps a little but doesn’t eliminate wobbling completely. Using setting screw doesn’t help much because this screw is located perpendicular to strings and doesn’t fix bar in direction that you’re actually using it. Noticeable drawback for me since it makes tremolo system feel very sloppy to light touches. I’ll sure find the way to resolve this but I guess it’s better to be done the right way from factory.
Electronics:
Electronics cavity is shielded with graphit paint. Pickguard is shielded with a small piece of aluminium foil. Pickups are not branded, middle and neck seem to be identical. Resistanse for switch positions from bridge to neck: 8.2 – 2.7 – 6.3 – 3.2 – 6.3 kOhms. In second position it splits humbacker and pair it with middle pickup. Potentiometers are branded as Alpha if that’s even matter. They used "vintage" not shielded cables under pickguard and shielded jack cable since jack cavity is not shielded itself. Jack cable is long enough for you to unscrew pickguard and flip it over (some manufacturers make them too short so you can’t do this without unsoldering things).
They probably saved on some electronics components but those perform just fine, wiring and soldering done carefull and secure.
Also addressing electronics, many people complain that volume knob taper on Sire guitars is different from some other guitars and they find it weird and confusing, some even see it as issue. This is probably because of their treble bleed circuit. You can remove it without any soldering tools by just cutting off some resistors/capacitors with pliers. On YT there’s guy Johnnathancordy coverting this in one of his videos. I myself fine with what they did there.
Guitar came in tuned and needed only slightest adjustments after long road delivery. Strings action and neck relief were up to my likings so I left them as is. Guitar was pretty much ready to play out of the box.
Comment:
I dare say you could sort this by fitting a different volume pot, but, it’s a lot of effort to go to to fix something that shouldn’t be there in the first instance.
Well-made guitar, with great features, but this one issue was enough for me to return the guitar.

To be honest I am very picky when it comes to fit and finish of all my guitars and if I’m not happy I’ll either send a guitar back or move it on.
This Larry Carlson single cut is one of the most well put together instruments I have ever owned. From the binding to the beautiful deep gold top it is a complete stunner. The neck is a pleasure to have in the hands having rolled edges and flawless fretwork with not the slightest roughness at all, the rear being Matt finished enabling swift movement around the fretboard. It was obvious to me from opening up the packaging that it was a premium instrument. I love the headstock too, a lot of headstocks on these type of guitars look awkward to say the least but not here, it looks in keeping and stylishly finishes off the classy looks of this instrument. Action was a little high ( not unusual for shipped instruments of this type) but that was easily adjusted down to my liking via the bridge adjustment.
The ebony fretboard is smooth and feels nice to the touch.
Sounds are typical for this type of guitar and are of the classic rock genre going through to jazz and clean Lp tones to delight any guitar player. The design of the heel of this instrument makes for easy access to the upper frets an improvement from the original LP.
To finish I am delighted with this offering from sire. What more can I say for 500.00 gdp delivered, this guitar completes with instruments three times its price and in a lot of ways surpasses them. Weight is 7lb 11 oz which is quite lightweight which was just what I had hoped for. Just brilliant. It seems to me that Indonesia are producing instruments now that equal the quality of the Japanese manufacturers which is quite surprising. Service from Thomann was very good indeed, Thankyou Thomann.
Comment:
Finish comes with some minor blemishes here and there. You can find them mostly along binding, small masking/painting issues and things like that. But those are fairly pictured on photos provided by Thomann so if you look carefully you’d know what to expect, it’s nothing too scary.
Neck joint and satin neck finish. Those two things totally got me. It’s firendly and comfortable, nothing gets in the way closer to higher frets and satin finish is smooth and pleasant. I preferred these features over anything else that Epiphone provide for the price.
Humbackers here are quite transparent. I still prefer my S7 stratocaster for clean sound but L7 holds very well too. On other hand those humbackers are quite nice on crunchy end.
Overall this guitar didn’t hit as high as S7 did for me but I feel satisfied with it. I’d personally say that Sire could achieve better quality if they get rid of binding around fretboard because it’s their weakest spot here. But I guess it’s something that people look into Les Pauls and that’s why they gone for it, it’s understandable.

Aside from the QC issues, everything looks and sounds good. The pickups are decent, the pots aren’t noisy, the tuners hold really well and everything feels pleasant. If they fix their QC, it’s undoubtedly a very good mid priced superstrat.

Firstly, it is thing of beauty and if it didn’t make some nice sounds it would probably be worth the purchase price as an ornament alone. The finish is absolutely top notch with a perfect blue green flamed maple top blending in a complementary fashion with the stained timber back and neck. It really looks good.
It’s quite a heavy guitar but not excessively so as its what you would expect with mahogany and the reward is how it resonates so beautifully. Indeed it makes an impressive sound without an amp. The neck is absolute perfection, slim with a satin finish and the ebony board has an easy action and looks great. The frets are the best I have ever encountered.
After the guitar was tuned for the first time, it stayed in tune with very little adjustment required. I presume this is partly down to the locking tuners which look good and work well.
I’m still trying to work out how to get the best out of the pickups and whilst they are both very good and even exceptional for the price of the instrument they are not quite up to the standard of my strat which lets not forget would cost about three times the price. Whatever the case, it’s easy to make a nice sound particularly employing the neck and middle position.
So there you have it. It has a relatively short scale which suits me because I’m not exactly a giant. When you consider the package as a whole, the spec and quality of finish, it is genuinely mind boggling how the manufacturer can do it and still make a profit. So well done them. I suspect as word gets around they may well start to sell pretty quickly and so they should.
