The only negative thing I would have to say about this guitar is the nut. To me it is ridiculous that they made such a "high end" guitar and they chose to use such a crappy nut. It looks and feels like a piece of wood you just found in your back yard, and painted by a three year old. I have read other comments about this guitar and it seems like this is a common problem. Basically you will have to change the nut to get the maximum out of your guitar.
I never knew that the quality of the nut was so important, but it actually is. That’s why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars on quality. But it’s an easy fix. Change the nut and it’s right up on 5 stars!

talking about the PU ful HB and spli coil: no, you don’t have a pure single coil stra/tele sound when splitted but definitely you have awarm and beautifully voiced sort of single coil pickup with a lot of attack. What really surprised me was both sustain and clarity.
Bridge (fixed) is one of the best you can find on the market in my opinion. The neck is a wide fat, which means nicely chunky and bold. positively. I personally find it very comfortable considering I normally had sort of slimmer necks in other guitars I owned.
It is a pleasure to play: it sings literally.
Comment:
So glad I’ve choose this one. The build is fabolous for a non american guitar. The split coil brings versatility on another level. You can easily have a telli like sound with the splitted bridge or strat like with the splitted neck, while having the chance to play hard humbucker sounds when need. The neck and the fretboard are addictive to be touched and to look at with the real abalone inlays. Only downside the tone knob frequency cut is very narrow but they’ve never done miracles on mid range guitars anyway. As many before me said it… A lot of guitar for the price, thanks Paul to have brought the concept to the SE line.

This guitar does not fail to offer that.
The fit and finish of the guitar is flawless.
It stays in tune for days, pickups sound great and it looks amazing.
It did play well out of the box but you might need to do some slight adjustments such as lowering the action etc etc.
I can’t really find any cons on the guitar, maybe the setup could of been better, but it’s definitely playable out of the box, but with slight adjustments you can get way better results.
I use a Boss Katana 50,,the works amazing, from beefy sparkling cleans to high gain screaming tones, you get them all.
This guitar is also really ergonomic, you got belly cuts, very decent neck joint, meaning that it’s really comfortable to play.
Highly recommended!
Comment:
The moment I got my hands on it, I could certainly hear the difference between my it and my cheap Harley Benton guitar. I love how it looks and it sounds fantastic.
The only problem I have is that there seems to be a seam (lol) on the third fret from the headstock, allowing the high E string to occasionally get caught inside. Not a serious problem, it doesn’t happen often and it only warrants a few moments of fixing the High E’s placement before I can play with ease again.

What’s in the package:
The guitar came fully set up from the factory, instantly playable after unwrapping and tuning. In the package you can also find a little tool set for adjustments and the tremolo arm.
Handling:
Very comfortable to play, I really like the wide-thin neck profile and for me the factory setup was just perfect with nice low action. Comes with .009-.042 gauge D’Addario XL strings, easy to bend and sounds nice with a lot of treble.
Sound:
Well what can I say, I’m really amazed by how this beauty sounds. Look at the official video – it’s that good, yes. Pickups are the upgraded 85/15 "S"-es, nicely balanced and well defined – you can hear all the individual strings in all settings, no smearing, very clear, very harmonic.
In split coil mode you get a bright, nearly acoustic sound (especially with both pickups on), while in humbucker mode it can shred with a lot of punch. Together with the great tone control this guitar offers tons of tonal options making this a super versatile guitar.
Build and design:
I love the finish (everything sounds better in blue! 🙂 ) and again, despite this being a ‘budget’ model, it does not mean any compromise in build quality.
Cons:
The only negative I noticed is that it tends to get out of tune. After playing a 2-3 songs, you have to re-tune a few string (G and B being the main offenders on my instance, the others stay pretty well in tune). It’s kind of expected though with the basic, non-locking tuners and based on what I read on forums I suspect that the nut might be a culprit, too.
Thus, adding locking tuners and a better nut can be a worthy upgrade for more serious players.
This is why I gave only 4 stars for quality, however, I think this is a minor inconvenience and a small compromise to take to get such a nice instrument for this great price.
Conclusion:
Unbeatable value for the price – this is a basic but great sounding, quality instrument you can’t go wrong with.

One thing I did not like is the delivery service. The guitar arrived in a box that had taken some serious damage (with even a hole in the middle of the outer box). That said, everything somehow still works and no signs of damage whatsoever.
I need to adjust the action and neck a little bit it seems and the tone knob feels a little less-sturdy than the volume knob. However, from the google search I have done, it seems for some reason this indeed is a common "issue" with many PRS models.
With all said, I definitely recommend it 🙂
Comment:
After the guitar was delivered, it was clear that there were issues with the electronics. The pickups randomly cut out or sounded weak. A luthier took a look and identified a bad switch and push/pull pot. Both had to be replaced (Thomann covered the cost under warranty – thank you!), but it wasn’t a great start for a brand new guitar,
Next to this, the pickups were very one dimensional – they sounded very ‘modern’ and PRS like, but not much else.
Pros:
Excellent setup quality out of the box, very easy to play,
Overall the neck, frets, and body were really nicely put together and looked good.
In the end, I sold the guitar after about a year as I just didn’t bond with it. I think the fault was more with me than the guitar – it did everything one would expect, sounded good if you like the PRS tone, and was good quality. Sadly I wanted some wider tone options.

Starting from Esthetics the guitar is very well put together. great finish and choice of veneer and craftsmanship is impeccable. Great fret work throughout. Played around with the action a bit and also had to adjust the truss rod after a few months but this is something I got used to with all my other guitars.
Electronics are quite good some reviews say that pickups are not top end or expensive ones but in my opinion they offer a good balance and managed to create a variety of sounds combined with effects pedals and amp models.
It took me sometime to adjust the posture when playing sitting down as opposed to the Stratocaster shape since the wider bottom places the guitar slightly backwards than start shapes. But this helps for a longer fret board.
I play it and the first adjectives which come to mind are sweet and delicate. Perhaps this is subjective but it is definitely a guitar which is worth having. PRS pride themselves to make guitars for everyone and the SE editions are not to be look down at or avoided. They create great guitars not juts for beginners.
Would I recommend buying , definitely. After the first nice surprise which meets the eyes, play it and you will be further pleased
Comment:
Does it sound good? Definitely yes. Maybe best SE Pickups I have heard. Plus even unplugged it sounds good. Resonant and nice sustain especially for the guitar with a tremolo.
Electronic is standard PRS SE. More expensive big Alpha pots with no name toggle switch and jack. So They haven’t completely chap out and went mini pots.
Neck pickup is vintage output and sounds good. Clear sounding. Very usable. (7.5 K)
Bridge pickup is pretty hot (12,3 K). It it clear enough. Normally if some Eastern Company makes hot humbucker they kill high end and harmonics. This one is very pleasant surprise. When I say hot I mean Hard Rock hot not Gent hot. Hot that clean on the neck pickup and switching to bridge will start braking up on AC30.
Quite usable pickups. At level of some models of USA aftermarket companies. Still high end pickups will sound better as well as USA made electronics.
Neck is one peace mahogany with Indian Rosewood fretboard (cut before ban and cites proof). This should make it perfect.
Back is mahogany and doesn’t look like ti is made of to many peaces.
Top is maple cap with fancy flamed layer on it.
Tuners are smooth and accurate.
Tremolo is vintage alike and pretty stable.
Now what is negative about it? Mine is nothing like on the product picture. Well grain ain’t that straight. Body has a knot on the edge. Guitar made in USA would never have things like that. Actually with my luck I am kind of disappointed for such things for that money and from the WMI factory. Now that said guitar has sustain and it sounds very good. But it does not look like 868 Euro guitar and not like my other two PRS SE guitars made in WMI.
So features good. Simple electronics but one peace neck and other things mes it good.
But than 3 stars for way my guitar looks like.
