I got my PRS SE Standard 24 VC from Thomann around 2 weeks now. To begin with, I can say it looks as amazing, if not more than the pictures. The quality build is definitely great. Everything works. The fret board is very smooth and the bird inlays don’t feel cheap, not one bit. One thing to make sure you’re a fan of, before considering buying such an awesome guitar is the neck. It’s a little on the thin side, for someone like me. Yet, I kind of like it. This is a subjective thing, so I’m not complaining!

One thing I did not like is the delivery service. The guitar arrived in a box that had taken some serious damage (with even a hole in the middle of the outer box). That said, everything somehow still works and no signs of damage whatsoever.

I need to adjust the action and neck a little bit it seems and the tone knob feels a little less-sturdy than the volume knob. However, from the google search I have done, it seems for some reason this indeed is a common "issue" with many PRS models.

With all said, I definitely recommend it 🙂

Cons:

After the guitar was delivered, it was clear that there were issues with the electronics. The pickups randomly cut out or sounded weak. A luthier took a look and identified a bad switch and push/pull pot. Both had to be replaced (Thomann covered the cost under warranty – thank you!), but it wasn’t a great start for a brand new guitar,

Next to this, the pickups were very one dimensional – they sounded very ‘modern’ and PRS like, but not much else.

Pros:

Excellent setup quality out of the box, very easy to play,

Overall the neck, frets, and body were really nicely put together and looked good.

In the end, I sold the guitar after about a year as I just didn’t bond with it. I think the fault was more with me than the guitar – it did everything one would expect, sounded good if you like the PRS tone, and was good quality. Sadly I wanted some wider tone options.
