I already have the Vintera 50’s Mod Telecaster and love it! Because of it I decided to try the Strat and again, totally happy with it!

I did try the Vintera 60’s Strat but didnt like it (pickups too hot and too roto-like when overdriven, and neck too thin). Also tried the Player Series Strat and didnt like it (neck too thin and pickups way too hot).

Finally got my hand on this SFG Vintera 50’s Strat and everything about it was great. Neck is a bit thicker, soft V and feels lovely. Nut slots needed a bit sanding to remove the sitar sound on e and b strings, but generally well cut nut.

Frets are well leveled and well finished. All hardware works well. The whole guitar was built and assembled well!
The weight is 3.4kg , very light and well balanced.

The pickups needed lowering to remove the punch and get more dynamics from them. Basically needed to level the neck and middle pups with the PG and then let the bridge pickup be a bit higher. Volume and tone controls work very good. Tone control on the bridge pup is priceless! Really good Fender started including this mod!

Thank you Fender for this Vintera series!
I say GET ONE 😀 while they last! Custom Shop vintage specs on the cheap! And it really is well made and plays and sounds fantastic!

Comment:

I couldn’t resist ordering this guitar based on all the buzz around the Vintera Series. First off, this guitar is beautiful: well made, not a sharp edge in sight, and very, very comfortable to play (both while sitting down or standing up). Fender have done a great job here. The neck is very nice… one single piece of maple which, although heavily lacquered, is great to play (although if your hands sweat a lot, you may find it a bit sticky). I really like the SFG colour, which is very distinctive (although, this is always going to be a personal preference). To be honest, I haven’t been able to put this down since it arrived… it is just so nice to play. The controls, etc., etc., are all of the quality you’d expect here, and the only "adjustment" I’ve made is to put on new strings and – consequently – adjust the intonation as required. For the money, this is a great guitar. Although not US-made, for all but the most discerning Strat fans, it’ll be hard to tell this Mexican-made guitar from it’s US cousins: it is that good. I was tempted to order the 70s model, but decided to opt for this 50s "classic" to own as vintage a Strat as possible. I have not been disappointed.
