The Yamaha Revstar series are amazing value for money.

The fit and finish on this guitar is impeccable ! Unbelievable value for money. I really dont think they are too many other guitars available for under 500 Euros that are in the same class.

I absolutely love mine. The P90s are the nicest I have ever heard .I Often replace the pickups on my guitars to be honest but definitely wont be doing it with these ones. The neck pickup is beautifully smooth and the bridge just barks . Sounds really great with a little drive.
There is some 60hz hum of course , as with all single coil pickups , but its not excessive and the middle position is hum cancelling and completely noiseless.

Hardware is great , tuners feel solid and I love the brushed finish of the bridge . Silver pickup covers also really set off the whole look of this guitar. The nut is plastic , maybe a tusq would have been nicer for sure but still its cut well and no issues there.

The neck profile feels like a D , more than a C shape , but it is very comfortable and has a nice bit of fatness to it, although not a baseball bat by any means.
Gloss finish on the neck but absolutely not sticky at all. Nice binding on the fretboard , fretboard is rosewood and very nice quality . Jumbo frets , beautifully finished . No sharp edges and zero buzz.

Weight wise it is not all that heavy , nowhere near Les Paul territory. I have read stories also about neck dive on these models , but not true at all in my experience. The body is very nicely contoured , with a cutaway for the forearm and belly . Not overall too thick . Feels very comfortable to play

A nice added feature on these guitars is the tone knob has a push/pull function to engage a high cut filter which removes some of the bass frequency .
It really gives a nice extra brightness and to me is a much better feature than the usual coil split you might see in a humbucker model usually , which I find just lowers the output really and doesnt give a true single coil sound.

The finish is matt brushed , which is a bit prone to fingerprint smudges but thats the only negative I have really about the whole guitar. Really I think that this guitar is one that will be with me for a long time. Yamaha build really nice instruments and seem to be under rated for some reason. Anyone considering one of these guitars should just go for it . You will not be disappointed !

Comment:

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to purchase this guitar. It’s undoubtedly the best value I’ve ever gotten on a musical instrument. I have a few much more expensive guitars and this holds it own against them.

The main concern I had when buying this was the brushed finish on the top. People online had talked about how it smudged and would be nicer if glossy etc… It turned out to be fantastic. It has a lovely matte finish which really complements the solid chunkiness of the body. It turned out to be one of my favourite aspects of this guitar.

The pickups are incredible as expected. Real clarity as well as a very subtle vintage-style tone.

The neck is perfect, just chunky enough and beautifully finished. The fretwork is absolutely perfect.

The tuners aren’t as good as the rest of the guitar to be honest, they could do with a higher ratio. But the guitar is pretty solid at holding tune so it’s not much of an issue.

I’d definitely recommend this, especially as a gigging guitar which is what I bought it for. It is solid as a rock and as versatile as you can get. Plus it is the perfect mix of retro and modern looking, a fantastically unique guitar.
