Dopo troppi mesi passati a cercare online una nuova chitarra da acquistare, mi ritrovo davanti alla ESP LTD EC-1000.
Non vi nascondo che inizialmente ero un po’ scettico, specialmente riguardo la sua estetica. Sono una persone che ama design classici e non troppo eccentrici e queste rifiniture in abalone mi sembravano troppo appariscenti, forse quasi "tamarre"! Anche il nero lucido e non satinato, come la EC-1000 vintage black, mi preoccupava!
Allo stesso tempo però il design nero con i contorni gialli della Vintage Black mi annoiava tremendamente, così ho preso coraggio e mi sono buttato sulla Black classica.

Posso dire solo che in foto, non rende per niente. La chitarra è Fantastica e le finiture in abalone rimangono scure, luccicando solo se toccate da una fonte di luce, dando l’impressione che sia ghiaccio ! Davvero, esteticamente penso sia perfetta per suonare ogni tipo di genere. Secondo me ha il fascino perfetto per suonare il rock classico, un groove alla Zack Wylde, il black metal e altri sottogeneri moderni.

Passando al suono e alla qualità delle meccaniche posso dire che, il bridge regolabile è molto comodo e ovviamente richiede del tempo per settarlo. Io personalmente ho avuto un po’ di difficoltà ad abituarmi perché abituato ad utilizzare chitarre con Floyde Rose, ma nulla di che alla fine.
Piccola pecca è la qualità di fabbricazione delle 3
manopole dei volumi/tono e dello switch, che sembrano non scorrere molto bene.. come se fossero tipo bloccate da qualcosa.
Altro piccolo difetto a mio parere fastidiosissimo è il retro della chitarra. Cercavo una chitarra che già montasse pick up Attivi perché hanno di per se un piccolo spazietto a parte per la batteria, cosa molto comoda se si vuole evitare di metterla nello scompartimento del cablaggio. La EC-1000 ha questo scompartimento… ma a differenza delle chitarre degli altri competitor, che hanno un vano a click facilmente removibile, questo è chiuso con delle viti e NON è del tutto semplice rimuoverlo. In più le viti che chiudono il vano del cablaggio sono inserite DIRETTAMENTE nel legno, quindi fate molta attenzione e richiudere il vano perché basta girare una vite messa un po’ storta per "scavare" nella chitarra e fare danni irreversibili.

I blocca corde non gli avevo mai provati e questi, come prima esperienza, gli ho trovati fantastici!

Un’altra cosa a cui faccio molta attenzione è il PESO dello strumento.
Pensavo fosse più leggera, ma allo stesso tempo non è una chitarra pesante. Direi di peso medio, non è scomoda e ci si può suonare ore in piedi e non stancarsi.
La tastiera in Pau Ferro è fantastica, si suona da sola. Una breve ricerca su internet vi può delucidare di più: è tipo palissandro, solo che proviene dall’America del Sud.

Conclusione!
Secondo me, acquistare questa chitarra a $999 (prezzo scontato) è un affare. E’ super versatile, si suona da dio ed ha un manico scorrevolissimo.
Se però state valutando di acquistarla a prezzo pieno ($1426) vi invito a paragonarla ad altre chitarre a quel prezzo e ponderarci su.

The guitar and pickups are killer. You can get a really good metal tone and don’t bother yourself too much. The combination of mahogany and EMG pickups give you a good amount of bass and mid frequencies, really good form modern metal.
