Comment:

First of all, that was the first time, when I bought a musical instrument from Thomann. The webshop and the support/communication during the ordering process was excellent, keep doing the good job guys, thanks! 🙂

(I use my own technique of reviewing, I hope it will be useful.)

Technical features:
Traditional bodyshape, nice retro color, comfortable, smooth neck lacquering, flatter, more modern style radius of fretboard. Tons of modern, useful and unique features, like the locking tuners, rounded neck plate and joint, hybrid tele/strat style electronics. The bridge is really comfortable. Cool mix! 🙂

Sound:
With the noiseless pickups you can’t go wrong! This guitar is capable for many styles. Country, blues, southern, classic rock, indie AND what I really like (and I gonna use this for) modern progressive ambient style metal, djent, rock! The presence of the pau ferro is really nice, I think this guitar has more balanced tone than any other strat/tele style guitars what I used. The plus pickup makes it more variable, really unique sounds can be made out from this piece. Excellent to use by home studio recording, headphone jamming, you can use cool boutique fuzz and drive pedals, the noiselesses will handle these really well. No hum, but the traditional sound is on! 🙂

Quality:
Shortly, it is perfect. Everething straight, all screws in place, lacquering is awesome, fretwork, fretboard, the surfaces around neck joint are well made. The out of the box setting was not perfect, but you don’t have to be a pro guitar technician to do it. The truss rod reacts perfectly, frets are in line, no cutting irritation on the sides, adjustment of the bridge is a breeze. Pickups and electronics quality and assembly/wiring is perfect.

Reliability:
As a tele can be! Sturdy, thick body, strong neck (even it is a new one), good quality pots, bridge is massive, tuning keys are rigid, rotate smoothly. This guitar will withstand the stress!

Impressions:
Good to see that Fender tries to move with age in his own way. A real classic, retro style looking with many modern features, which gives a good all-purpose instrument for the players. I like, that I can do many styles of music with one guitar. Real quality product with good design and image!

PROS
– Noiseless electronics
– Tele/Strat mix, really unique
– Good quality of materials and features
– Pau ferro (even it’s an economical reason to use it, that will work, SRV model used this wood in the 80s, so it is good for me too ;))

CONS
– after a few days nothing! (I hope I gonna feel this soon as well)
– a plus switch for activating bridge pickup in every coil positions (it is not a real con, but if this feature would be installed, this could be the perfect Fender all-in-one model for me)

Comment:

Firstly, My guitar arrived extremely poorly setup. The action was very far off, with two strings near touching the high frets, and one other near as high as it could go. The pickups were also sitting too far out.

Once i got the guitar set, it plays well and sounds great. The telecaster "twang" is great, but the middle pickup adds versatility. I also love the tall frets, although these take some getting used to coming from standard jumbos.

Pros:
-plays well, sounds great
-Very unique looking and great colour combination.
-Superb value for money. Seems to be all american hardware.
-Lovely neck profile

Cons:
-The selector switch doesn’t allow you to have both the neck and bridge pickup on together as you normally can with a telecaster. I have added an extra switch to do so.
-Arrived incredibly badly setup.
-Scratch plate looks like it was cut by hand, with some rough and uneven edges. I have removed and sanded/polished around the edge.
