I am an amateur guitarist mostly playing clean and this is my first tube amp. I had two other non-tube amps before. My goal was to purchase an amp that is:
(i) with single channel all tube circuitry (i.e. reliable and easy to maintain);
(ii) simple to use (i.e. no need to fiddle with a lot of buttons for getting a right clean or slightly overdriven tone);
(iii) takes pedals well;
(iv) easy to be transported; and
(iv) is good for home or bedroom use.
I think that the amp satisfies all of the above and the sound of the Ruby 6V6 tube and 12AY7 preamp tube is very inspiring. The 8 inch Weber speaker sounds great and you should not be afraid of the fact that it is only 8 inch and not a 12 inch speaker. Also, the fact that there is no reverb should not be an off-turner, the amps takes reverb pedals (and also other pedals) really well.
I believe that the price was relatively high for such a small and simple amp, but I do not regret that at all, because it really ticked all the boxes for me and it is a joy to look at and listen to it. Also, the fact that it was made in the Fender Custom Shop at Corona should imply that such an amp can be resold relatively quickly.

Comment:

An awesome little amp. Tiny, but not boxy at all. Great tone. Yes, there is some hum when idling (even when the volume is on zero), but that’s just part of the design, not a fault. They all do it! And it isn’t noticeable when playing. I love this little amp. (My other amps are a ’66 BF Princeton Reverb, and a ’72 SF Deluxe Reverb). It’s expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Stop dreaming, start playing !!!
