occasionally something wow, momentous and OMG comes along on the songs hardware scene – like Moogs, Mellotrons, the Kyma Capybara, now – this. It is wow wow wow!

This superbly built aluminium-bodied keyboard controller ranks with all the best of Apple’s design values and tenets. Attention to detail goes right down to the packaging too. This elegant baby would be it if Apple built a MIDI controller. Modestly priced, worth every penny and ultra portable it’s highly desired POLYPHONIC AFTERTOUCH on every (nearly complete size) individual key. Release your keyboard creativity time that is big! It’s a smart choice when compared with everything else out there, having the ability to do things like Polyphonic Aftertouch that only other keyboard controllers that are MIDI very silly costs can perform. It’s extremely portable too, since wide as a laptop. Then the deal is had by us basement Thomann cost too. CME on their own are supportive and excellent- they reply to queries and recommendations quickly. Help is remarkably friendly and undoubtedly excellent. CME deserve to do well. They take to hard.

The X-Key partners and integrates with iOS devices well, especially the iPad, for a few real heaven that is synth. It works together with Android os, Windows and Mac OSX seamlessly. The action that is playing nice and sooooo responsive. It encourages experimentation. Tickle those ivories – get one!

All I want now is a 37 and 61 edition that is key. I can not wait for the promised CME Mac/PC setup utility app. iOS users are usually well catered for with a CME config application – and shedloads of great synth that is cheap somewhere else too, like Thor. Checkout the CME site and YouTube videos & reviews. Sonic State have actually a fantastic video online waxing lyrical about X-Key.

Finally, well done Thomann for attempting to sell the darn thing 😉

There are positive factors to the product but quality is bad, with very loud keys: significantly louder than a typical computer keyboard.

In order to make matters more serious several keys did not work, such as the lower octave black tips plus the pitch/mod buttons so that the item ended up being came back.

It is clearly designed following the apple bluetooth keyboard, down seriously to the feel and finish. The keys have the exact distance that is exactly same on your own casual keyboard but are smaller on their own to facilitate for the frame. It feels somewhat odd at first you could easily conform to it.

Bluetooth connectivity feels like secret. You hit a button regarding the keyboard and then pick it in your OS’es settings which are MIDI; or an iPhone – and then it just works. Instant boost to on-the-go creativity.

The pitch/mod controls done as buttons are tricky and also you really need to get accustomed to those. I’d be happier in the event that keyboard had been simply a notch narrower myself.

Now on the sad component. It is extremely fragile. I got the scenario that is official had it in my own backpack twice (and also the backpack wasn’t also complete – simply the notebook while the keyboard). Somehow which was enough for the secrets to start out falling off and once they’re off it’s really non-trivial to clip them right back on (and they feel more wobbly after ward).

It’s super slim, nice looking, and neat. Do it if you want an elegant keyboard of one’s cramped desk but it’s not fit for travels.

Comment:

This appears like a handy travel keyboard, but it has one major flaw – the keys can easily snap off whenever case is in a backpack since they are protruding and therefore are loosely attached. When they’ve snapped off, there’s no option to straight back get them on – it’s broken.
I wouldn’t normally suggest this keyboard.

Love this keyboard. It fits appropriate in front of my 13" Macbook Pro.
They keys are complete size and therefore are a wonder to relax and play. The issue that is just that the aftertouch just isn’t working regardless of what you do. Therefore I’d suggest CME to drop the purchase price by ¤50 and eliminate marketing it as a polyphonic aftertouch keyboard.
