Comment:

Great sounding synth. Phat analogue Moog sound. Ideal for bass and lead sounds but it can also get versatile and incredibly deep with all possibilities which can be mod.

This is my first Moog and I must say not only it looks good, the construction is top while the knobs feel great. But the majority notably it sounds amazing. Nice and thick frequencies that are low but there’s significantly more than that. Capabilities are endless. And of course no introduction is needed by the moog filter. Simply perfect, 4-steps while the overdrive. Duophonic mode is a huge plus additionally.

Preset buttons are particularly helpful, it is possible to access any conserved preset very quickly. In sequencer mode they become sequencer actions, with artistic edit and representation capabilities. The workflow that is overall quite nice. One-knob per function makes everything easier.

the editor/librarian that is clear of Moog works great with DAW and additionally a standalone version which works exactly the same. Because of the librarian, you can of course conserve and modify the presets in the equipment memory, you could also save your self presets on your computer, which can come dead handy. In fact there have been even more presets added to the installation, which I didn’t learn about.

Unfortunately you are able to only run one VST editor in each project, so to get more noises inevitably you’ll want to jump (and arrange by saving midi & preset if you wish to sometime return). Other than that, I cannot find cons which are numerous this synth. Okay perhaps the display is somewhat little but you get accustomed to it.

Great sounding synth of a beast

Comment:

Primary I purchased this synth as my very first Analog hardware tool so that you can explore likelihood of real synthesis in imaginative process.

I must acknowledge synth offers a lot of choices making a fair entry in realm of additive/analog synthesis, also a genuine instrument in opposition to large amount of AU/VST units I have used in past.
Most surprisingly it includes a VST/AU integration and it has nice resource as MIDI controller, too.

Generally it really is as good entry synth into a MOOG "sound world", worth good enough for decent bass lines, arpeggios and sequences. It gives distinctive yet simple and sound that is hot with classical touch which just few devices embody.

The equipment is durable, sturdy and it surely will endure for years, oscillators are stable, nevertheless they need tunning every whilst.

Some comments from people who come to the forum about this model:

Comment:

This is the most readily useful workstation I experienced, you’ll be able to develop its performance also to develop myself
general quality of sound is stunning; wide, clean and precise with sufficient heat and sheen. Yamaha’s acoustic noises will also be gorgeous here plus the CFX/ Bösendorfer grands sound gorgeous, the clavinets are now actually more authentic plus the EP ‘gallery’ performances are superb. The guitars being acoustic also killer (especially with the arpeggiator) and the strings, metal and woodwinds are very inspiring.
You may want to import your personal 44/48kHz WAV samples from a USB stick and use them while you would any other element and there is 1.75GB of individual flash memory, therefore when brought in you can hold your samples/third-party libraries in memory for immediate loading and retention after powering down. Also remember that Montage is backwards appropriate for Motif XF AWM2 voices too.

Finally, it is possible to drop your performances into ‘live sets’ for easy selection therefore the slick ‘category search’ function makes it easy to place shows and live sets together quickly from the 1,000s of presets/ user sounds available.

Now some ‘to-be-aware-ofs’! Firstly, there’s no specific ‘clonewheel engine’ and, though there is a pretty tweakable rotary-effect and some good-sounding B3 emulations onboard, if you prefer the eight faders to use as drawbars you need to set them up manually which will be time-consuming.

we would enjoy to see Yamaha introduce some brand new performance templates where the set-up and routing for drawbars and percussion/vibrato is all done/ pre-wired. Next, while AWM2 does a fantastic job, there is nevertheless no devoted digital analogue mode and it would have been great to truly have the killer-sounding modelled analogue engine through the Reface CS included (which seems more analogue-like than AWM2 does).

Thirdly, we’d have liked to own seen the superb ‘spectral component modelling’ sounds/engine through the Reface CP and CP4 included, as they have some killer EPs, clavs and Wurlis onboard that often rival or surpass the ones onboard the Montage. And finally (unlike the Motif XF), there is no direct sampling or multi-track sequencing, simply a bare-bones 16 track ‘recorder’ with basic modifying (hence the ‘Music Synthesizer’ label vs the Motif’s ‘Music Production Synthesizer’ label).
