Comment:

I’m rating this as a practice amp although it is plenty loud enough for small gigs. I have several large valve amps but needed a decent quiet practice amp. I have tried several digital and analogue amps for that purpose but have never been happy any with them. The cleans were too smooth and the gain too fizzy.

So, I have to say I love this amp even though I’m a fan of 6L6 valves and never really liked EL84s before. This amp is really warm, lovely percussive twang to it as well and what the hell, I suddenly sound like Pete Green haha! Seriously though, it really has that early Mac sound to it depending how you set it up.

You get full valve distortion with no fizz at bedroom volume, unlike solid state amps. In fact you can get all of the full volume sounds at whisper quiet volume with no loss of definition or tone. It’s very light too, which is a bonus. Never been happier with a practice amp.

I would recommend this to anyone. If you are a beginner or new to valve amps this will suit you perfectly. There is nothing for the price that you can play so quietly at home but still get great valve tone from.

The only downside is the lack of reverb on board. So minus one star for features. But there are a million pedals out there, even ones with real spring trays if that’s what you want.

Comment:

Very flexible little amp. Use it at home, at rehearsals and during recordings. Sounds really nice in each setting, but occasionally crazy-loud drummer is too much for it to handle.
