In my opinion, any review of a Harley Benton guitar should be done through the lens of value for money, and the fact that we can even compare Harley Bentons with guitars costing 10X as much and more is perhaps the best compliment I can give them. So any complaints or criticisms should be viewed in that context.

As for this model, it had me at silver sparkle and P90, and I defy anybody to show me more cool for the dollar. My only regret is that I’m a lefty, so I bought it for my daughter, who loves it for its look as much as I do.

The action is a bit high, but typical for this style of guitar, and it produces a ripping, raw sound with gain, like a Junior should, and from a surprisingly light-weight body. I haven’t attempted to lower the action, as my daughter likes it as-is, but this is a great guitar for a beginner, and also a great platform for anyone looking to take it to another level.

I’d give this guitar 5 stars across the board but for the tuners, which I found to be disappointing, not so much for the way they function, which is adequate, as for how they look. They’re white plastic, which I expected and is probably period-correct, but viewed in real life they look "cheap" and cast a bit of a shadow on what otherwise appears to be a rather expensive guitar.

All in all, a great, tough to top guitar for the money, and kudos to Thomann for the variety of their offerings, including limited run models like this one. Please keep them coming!

I was so ready for this to be a piece of crap, or at best a good guitar to mod/work on. What I actually got was a well set-up instrument that sounds and feels great for less than the cost the majority of pedals. Despite originally ordering this to get Billie Joe Armstrong vibes for a cover band, this has quickly become one of my most used guitars. It’s well balanced and light. Although I plan to replace the pickup with a Seymour Duncan, the stock Roswell meets your expectations of a P90, especially if you’re running it through a high-quality amp. Only minor gripe is the tuning machines – they are the only part that feels cheap despite matching the look of BJA’s silver guitar closely. Will be ordering more of this brand.
