Played for many years and wanted another comfortable fixed bridge instrument for live playing. Have been thinking Harley Benton for a while and decided to take the plunge!
Arrived from Thomann in 5 days. The nerves of ordering online soon dissipated on unboxing of the guitar.
The finish and look of the guitar are stunning! The flame cap is really good and the back of the guitar shows the wood grain. I can find no flaws in the finish and the back of the neck is silky smooth and the join to the body really nice.
The hardware looks and feels high quality, Grover machine heads work perfectly. Tone control works well not making the sound muddy. Roswell pickups sound fine..designed by Aliens so they must be OK. Not sure it would be worth the expense of upgrading them but some may want to do that at a later date.
The setup was fine out of the box. also the guitar is perfectly balanced..no neck diving here!

In the interest of fairness I will try to list the cons and I am being really picky!
Three of the strings were almost a semi tone out of tune.
The truss rod cover does not fit flush with the headstock.
A couple of the frets at the high end could maybe do with one rub with a nail file at the edge.
And as with any guitar that has been stored and shipped the neck needs some lemon oil.
I did say really picky because that is the only way I could find any issue with the instrument.
Highly recommended for anyone that wants a quality instrument that can compete easily with another with E or F on the headstock even a cheaper G for a third of the price.

Thanks to Thomann and whoever made this particular instrument.

I feel a collection coming on!!

Having been a professional musician (bass player), recently releasing a solo album, and having been a Degree level tutor, the one thing I felt I needed was to champion a cause. I found a cause during my years as a Music Technology and Performance department head, it upset me to see students unable to afford decent quality instruments in order to engage with their courses. I recently discovered Thomas and Harley Benton. Having already bought the delicious CST-24T, I followed up by getting the XT-22. These are perfect guitars for the learners I taught. I wish I had discover these amazing guitars earlier. I found both the CST-23T and XT-22, brilliant for the cost; really easy to play, fabulous to look at have inspiring to play and create. I could not honestly discuss any cons to to these instruments, as they fit like a glove and sounded very professional. The build quality is astounding considering the price. The XT-22 has an identifiable sound contrast the CST-24T, which makes owning both very worthwhile. Finally, it would have been cool to have the same brushed metal hardware that is on the XT-22, on the CST-24T.
Love em!. TB
