the level of building quality and attention to details are quite astonishing in this guitar and considering the price range.
talking about the PU ful HB and spli coil: no, you don’t have a pure single coil stra/tele sound when splitted but definitely you have awarm and beautifully voiced sort of single coil pickup with a lot of attack. What really surprised me was both sustain and clarity.
Bridge (fixed) is one of the best you can find on the market in my opinion. The neck is a wide fat, which means nicely chunky and bold. positively. I personally find it very comfortable considering I normally had sort of slimmer necks in other guitars I owned.
It is a pleasure to play: it sings literally.

I was hesitating between an MIM strat or the Paul’s guitar SE.
So glad I’ve choose this one. The build is fabolous for a non american guitar. The split coil brings versatility on another level. You can easily have a telli like sound with the splitted bridge or strat like with the splitted neck, while having the chance to play hard humbucker sounds when need. The neck and the fretboard are addictive to be touched and to look at with the real abalone inlays. Only downside the tone knob frequency cut is very narrow but they’ve never done miracles on mid range guitars anyway. As many before me said it… A lot of guitar for the price, thanks Paul to have brought the concept to the SE line.
